What cold medicines can my father on blood pressure medicines with glaucoma take?
My father is 79 and takes blood pressure medicine so he can't take any of the regular over the counter cold medicines. Because of glaucoma he can't take Coricidin which is the usual alternative for people in his situation. Is there any medication, over the counter or by prescription, that he could take for coughing and congestion? I worry that on about the third night of not being able to sleep he'll just not care and take one of the regular cold medicines and suffer a stroke or whatever adverse effects there are.

Is my new blood pressure medicine worth the side effects?
I am now 30 yrs old and have been on blood pressure meds since I was 19. When I was 19 I was in pretty good shape 5'10 170lbs. I went for a routine doctor's visit back then and my blood pressure was 165 90. Doc put me on meds, meds, and more meds none that really helped much till a few months ago. I was put on Exforge HCT and my blood pressure has been averaging 130 75.BUT, since being put on Exforge my ankles, especially my left one has been swollen. It has also raised my heartrate, now averaging around 90 BPM at rest and up to 150 while walking or straining.I'm on Atenolol for that which used to control my tachycardia, not anymore. I told my Cardiologist and he simply said, " Would you rather have swollen ankles or have a stroke?" I said, " Well, neither but if I had to choose swollen of course. But it is getting worse by the week and it hurts to wear shoes anymore. So, my question is. Should I try another medicine and risk dealing with 155 85 blood pressure again without swelling or stay on Exforge and deal with the swelling? Thanks..
Recently Started Taking Blood Pressure Medicine?
I have recently started taking blood pressure medicine about a month ago and I just don't feel like myself and my head feels heavy & not normal. I am tired and do not have the energy I had before. They actually increased my thyroid medicine too. I went through a lot of stress from rental properties and the stress caused a thyroid problem and that caused the blood pressure problem. I always felt really good and now my quality of life is not the same. Does it take awhile or this blood pressure medicine to start working so I will feel normal and have more energy again and not have this heaviness in my head?

Stronger high blood pressure medicine?
Of course I plan to ask my doctor this, but I wanted to make sure the medicine can go stronger before I waste the time and money to see my doctor to have them say that they cannot increase my dosage. I have high blood pressure and take Metoprolol Tartrate 50mg and love it. It has no side effects at all and it works. However since everything I eat has a ton of sodium, I may need to go beyond 50mg and bump it up to 75mg. I am curious to know if high blood pressure medicine goes that high? I am not sure if it is supposed to be that strong, or if that is normal. I have been taking 50 mg for about two years now. Thanks.
High Blood Pressure Medicine and Marijuana?
I take 10mg of lisinopril daily to lower my blood pressure, but I also smoke at night to ease my insomnia. I don't trust sleep medications after seeing several side effects on my relatives, so that's why I use this alternative. I don't even think I smoke as much as the average smoker, a bowl's worth at most.Anyway, I heard that marijuana can also lower your blood pressure after prolonged use, would I be lowering it to a dangerous level with two things lowering it? I don't need a lecture, I know that weed is illegal, and that it's bad for your lungs. I'm an adult, I make my own choices. And personally I'll take the possibility of lung cancer at 50 years old over an hour and a half total of sleep, waking up 3 times in the night, every night. Thank you.
Blood Pressure Medicine & Thyroid?
I have just recently started taking thes medications two months ago. What I am wondering is that the thyroid medicine will pick you up and then a few hours later you are tired and a friend of mine told me it is the blood pressure medicine that makes you tired after so many hours. My numbers are now all in line, but what can I do to prevent from getting tired like this. I had lunch with a group of people yesterday and by 2 00 I was tired. Isn't there something you can do to prevent this? Before I was able to go all day without being tired.I take the blood pressure medicine in the morning because I tried taking it at night and it kept me awake all night long.
