What blood pressure measurement qualifies you for high blood pressure?
I am a 34 year old female, 5'4, 155 lbs. My blood pressure has always been around 110 70. When I went for my gyno check up last month, my bp was 134 92. I have a pretty stressful lifestyle I work, go to college, just got married, have a 15 year old son. I've gained about 20 lbs over the last 3 4 years that I need to lose however, I am relatively active & carry my weight well. I had a migraine the day I went to the dr so I thought that might have raised it some. I have had migraines regularly for the last 10 years. My bp last night was 145 104, which is the highest it has been. I have a doctor's appointment next week to get everything checked out. My question is this I know that measurement is high, but how high is it? What number is dangerously high? Will this probably mean I have to take meds to control it? My mom's side of the family has lots of high bp & heart disease. My mom died of heart disease at 57 yoa. Thanks for your input
What are typical variations in blood pressure measurements?
I just took 4 measurements with an automated ReliOn blood pressure monitor. Each was back to back over the period of about 5 minutes. I tried to stay reasonably still for each measurement. This is what I got 143 81 pulse 79136 91 pulse 79142 92 pulse 76146 89 pulse 67Are these variations typical, or is it possible that I'm not taking the measurements correctly, or the machine is not working properly?Yes, I'm aware my blood pressure is high.
Good brand of blood pressure measurement device?
Recently I underwent a heart surgery and now I am taking pills that reduce my blood pressure. I need to take these pills in different dosage depending on where my blood pressure is. What is a quality brand and where can I purchase this blood pressure measurement device? Thanks.
During a blood pressure measurement with a spygnamometer, what are the rules when deflating?
Hi, when I deflate the cuff, it does not go to completely 0 mmHg.So when I start the bp measurment for someone the cuff is already at 2mmHg does this therefore mean that I should add or subtract 2mmHg from whatever systolic or diastolic pressure I get or should I still keep whaterver reading for systolic or diastolic pressure the sphygnamometer gives irrespective of the fact that it wasnt from 0?Thanks very much for the help.
